Preventative and restorative dentistry for the whole family
At Quarry Rise Dental Centre we offer a full range of general family dental services in addition to our cosmetic dental treatments. We are firm believers in preventative dental care with minimal intervention and we strive to deliver this wherever possible.
Good oral health starts early and we encourage patients to bring their children to us as soon as new teeth start to show. Even if no treatment is needed, early exposure to the dental environment helps them to become accustomed and is thought to help avoid dental anxiety as they grow up. So please bring your children in to see us!
We recommend that patients see us for a check-up approximately every six months. Some patients, for example diabetics, may be at a higher risk of oral health issues so we may request more frequent visits in these situations.
By ensuring that your teeth are checked regularly, we hope to eliminate or minimise any dental decay so that if treatment is needed, then it’s minor.
However, if you see your dentist less frequently, it is more likely that you will need more extensive treatment as problems become worse. So please try to prioritise your check-ups with us.
Even with the best home oral care and regular dental visits, we all know that accidents can, and do, happen. Whether this is a simple chip of a tooth by biting hard on something unexpectedly, or a fall or blow to the face playing sport, most of us will probably require dental treatment at some point in our lives.
When you do, our friendly dental team are here to help you! We always do our best to help our patients to relax and we will try to restore your tooth, keeping as much of the natural tooth intact as is possible.
There are a number of treatments which can be used to restore teeth, some of which are briefly mentioned below:
Fillings - Amalgam fillings offer a strong and effective method of repairing a tooth that has suffered from dental decay or has broken.
Cosmetic alternatives are also available.
Root canal treatment - Where the inside of a tooth has become infected, the only way to save it is with a root canal procedure. This procedure should be no more uncomfortable than other dental procedures as strong local anaesthetics are used. However, many myths of pain surround it, so please discuss with us if you are anxious and we’ll help you through. Please remember that delaying treatment can result in losing your tooth.
Tooth loss - Occasionally, a tooth is so badly damaged or decayed that it can’t be restored. In these instances, the tooth unfortunately must be extracted. However, you don’t have to live with the gap and there are several solutions to this, including dentures, bridges and dental implants.
We are confident that you will find our team to be friendly and helpful and we are always available should you have any questions or concerns about your teeth, gums or general oral health.
